Because Night Lights takes place outdoors, and is a weather-dependent event, reschedules do happen. Our number 1 priority is holding a safe event that brings the community together to make magical memories.
Just like you, we don't like rescheduling our events, but it does happen from time to time, due to rain or extreme winds that are out of our hands.
Each of our events is planned and coordinated with multiple local partners, municipalities, and authorities, and we monitor the weather patterns from a weather station closest to our actual venue.
In the event that we need to reschedule an event, we do our best to announce the reschedule via email, SMS, and/or social media within 24-48 hours of the event. This timeline can change if the weather seems to be moving out of the area and we need to watch it closer.
Similar to a sporting event or concert, Night Lights Event has a no refunds policy. This means that if you purchase tickets (and opt-out of adding Ticket Protection to your order), in the event of a reschedule, you will qualify for a transfer or future credit, but you will not qualify for a refund.
We understand that it may be inconvenient for you to attend if the event is rescheduled to a new date. We do our best to give you options in this circumstances — in addition to offering Ticket Protection, please find your other options below.
Night Lights is an outdoor sky lantern festival designed around safety, community, and shared experience. Because lanterns can only fly under calm, clear conditions, every event is weather-dependent.
We cannot control the weather — but we can control how we respond to it. Our promise is simple:
Your safety and the quality of your experience always come first.
Even if rain does not fall on event day, unsafe setup or launch conditions may still require a reschedule. We make the final call to protect all guests, crew, and property.
If an event must be rescheduled, all ticket holders will be notified through:
We aim to announce reschedules more than 24 hours before the scheduled event, though this may vary if weather patterns shift rapidly.
When a reschedule occurs:
Each rescheduled date is chosen carefully to ensure it is safe, permitted, and within venue capacity limits. We will never hold multiple overlapping events that exceed safe attendance levels.
Night Lights does not cancel events due to weather. Instead, we reschedule to ensure every guest receives the full, intended experience. This approach maintains event integrity while prioritizing guest safety and community value.
All reschedule-related requests will have a deadline. If you do not select an option by the deadline date, your tickets will remain active for the new, rescheduled event and these options will expire.
Key Takeaways:
By purchasing tickets, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of reschedule due to weather or safety conditions. You also agree to stay informed through official communication channels and updates.
For ongoing information and event updates, always check the official Night Lights website and follow Night Lights social media channels before traveling to your event.
Because Night Lights takes place at outdoor venues, it is highly dependent on the weather. The weather factors we must consider are:
Our goal is always to give as much notice as possible if we do plan on postponing an event. We'll update you about any changes to our schedule first through social media and our website, then email, and SMS (if subscribed).
This is the BEST way to make sure you don't miss important event updates.
If you were the original purchaser: If you purchased tickets using your email and phone number, you are automatically on our list to receive updates. You may want to allow the following email addresses to your safe list, to avoid being sent to a promotions folder, spam or junk. Search your inbox if you don't see anything from us.
If you un-subscribed to these emails or sms messages, reach out to us, so we can fix this for you.
If someone else purchased the tickets for you: you are most likely not registered to receive updates with us. Please reach out to us so we can get you on our list, or sign up for event updates at the bottom of any of our event pages.
We make it simple so there is nothing you need to do! In case of a reschedule, all tickets are automatically transferred to the new date. All you have to do is show up with your original tickets (even though they have the old date on them), or you can request new tickets be sent in the Account Dashboard. Just click on the “Resend Tix” button.
If you are unable to attend the make-up date, we will provide the option of a Ticket Credit that can be used to hold your tickets for a future Night Lights event, the following year.

If you are concerned about the chance of a reschedule, your best option in this circumstance is to purchase Ticket Protection with your order. Ticket Protection can be added to your order during checkout and will allow you to receive a refund for any reason, including a rescheduled event.

In our 5+ years of running Night Lights Event (over 60 events), we have only cancelled an event three times. A cancellation means that the event cannot be held and there is no makeup date. In the case of a cancellation, we will issue a 100% refund to all customers.
